Language shapes the way we see the world. It builds bridges between what is and what could be. While writing The Through Line, I was struck by the quiet power of certain words. Words that don’t just describe, but expand our thinking.

One of the most powerful words I’ve come across is just three letters long: yet.

I come from India. A country where language is more than just communication; it’s connection. With 22 official languages, 122 major ones, and over 1,100 more spoken across communities, I’ve seen first hand how words can hold entire worlds within them.

Words carry weight. They tell stories. And sometimes, they hold the key to unlocking our own potential.

That’s the power of yet.

Not because everything is possible today. But because it may not be possible, yet.

Children model this beautifully. When a child says, “I can’t do this yet,” it’s not defeat. It’s possibility. It’s resilience. It’s belief in what’s to come.

But somewhere along the way, as we grow, we trade yet for never. We start saying, “I can’t do this,” instead of, “I can’t do this yet.” And that single shift changes everything.

What if we reclaimed yet? What if we infused our work, our leadership, and our relationships with the power of possibility?

  • What have you yet to do?

  • Who have you yet to meet?

  • How have you yet to lead?

What if your greatest breakthroughs are just on the other side of yet?

What if your potential is still waiting to be unleashed?

The power of yet isn’t just about patience. It’s about courage. It’s about stepping forward even when you don’t have all the answers. It’s about embracing the space between where you are and where you could be.

So, what’s your yet?
